The HKU Financial Technology and Data Analytics Alumni Association (FTDAAA) is an association of alumni and students who are interested in the financial technology industry. Our aim is to create a platform that connects our members, fosters collaboration, and contributes to the growth and advancement of the industry.

President

Linda Yu

Linda is an experienced accountant currently working in the insurance industry, where she blends precision with purpose. She joined the FTDA program out of a deep fascination with the intersection of innovation and insight—believing in the transformative power of data-driven thinking to reshape finance and enable smarter decisions.

As President of HKUMScFTDAAA, Linda is committed to setting a bold strategic direction, leading with clarity, and cultivating a vibrant, inclusive alumni network that thrives beyond the classroom. She’s passionate about sparking meaningful connections and building a community where ideas flourish and support is always within reach.💭

Internal Vice President

Alex Chan

Hi everyone! I’m Alex Chan, your Internal Vice President.

I’m a Data Analyst at BUPA, where I turn data into decisions—spotting new business opportunities, automating daily workflows across teams, and strengthening data governance so our information is clearly defined, accurate, and up to date.

I believe better insights mean deeper customer understanding and a real competitive edge. MSc in Financial Technology and Data Analytics taught me how to turn data into information, and information into insights.

Outside work, I stay active with jogging, squash, badminton, scuba diving, and hiking—keeping mind and body ready for the challenges ahead.

As Internal Vice President, I’m here to listen, make sure every member’s voice is heard, and provide the support you need.

External Vice President

Jackal Pang

Jackal is currently working as an investment consultant at Huatai Financial. He had more than 10 years working experience in the financial services industry, with previous experience in various fields including sales and trading, wealth management, assets allocation planning, products and client onboarding.

Jackal was from FTDA 2023 cohort and graduated in 2025 and became the external vice president in FTDAAA focusing on external connections with HKU’s other alumni associations, external universities and the financial industry.

Jackal likes to talk and interact with new people. His interests include portrait and landscape photography, badminton and hiking.

John Kwok

John brings an impressive professional background as a seasoned software engineer specializing in healthcare technology, paired with a deep interest in FinTech innovation. He focuses on the intersection of these fields, exploring cross-functional opportunities to deliver meaningful solutions.

Beyond his technical expertise, John is a strong believer in lifelong learning. He values growth through collaboration and is dedicated to fostering supportive environments where mutual success drives individual and collective achievement.

In his role, John will build strategic connections across our alumni network, student societies, and industry partners. He believes transformative ideas emerge when disciplines converge, and he’ll champion collaborative platforms for joint initiatives and knowledge sharing.

Finance Director

Coco Ding

Coco is an experienced digitalisation transformation project manager in the consulting industry, dedicated to driving innovation and operational excellence in the financial sector. As a professional CPA, she is passionate about leveraging technological advancements to bring fresh perspectives and added value to the world of FinTech. Her expertise spans across digital transformation, financial excellence, and project leadership, making her an invaluable asset to our alumni association.

As Finance Director of HKUMScFTDAAA, Coco is committed to strengthening the financial foundation of the association and supporting new initiatives that benefit students, alumni, and the wider FinTech community.

Beyond her professional achievements, Coco is a true enthusiast of life outside the office. She enjoys boxing 🥊, swimming 🏊‍♀️, and exploring the great outdoors 🌳. Feel free to connect with her for a sparring session (kidding) or an outdoor adventure!

Publicity Director

Celia Tang

Celia works as a project manager in the financial industry, with prior experience as a data analyst. Blending data-driven rigor with clear storytelling, she’s passionate about spotlighting the people and ideas across our alumni and student network.

As Publicity Director, Celia creates promotion materials and maintains our social media channels (LinkedIn, Instagram) - publishing regular posts, producing event recaps, coordinating media for our website, and amplifying alumni wins. The goal: connect alumni, students, and industry partners through stories that spark collaboration.

Outside of work, you’ll find Celia fencing, skiing, and keeping up with K-pop. Say hi if you’d like to fence, ski, or geek out over K-pop together!

By day, I’m a Data Scientist at AXA Insurance, where I turn complex data into actionable insights and build LLM/GenAI solutions that drive real innovation in insurance. I’m passionate about harnessing cutting-edge tech to create tangible impact – and thrive on transforming bold ideas into reality.

As your Event Director, I’m thrilled to bring this energy to our alumni community! I look forward to creating meaningful events that connect students, grads, and industry leaders – sparking collaboration and fueling our shared passion for fintech and engineering.

Sylvain Chan

Sylvain is a seasoned engineering leader in the banking, finance, and tech industries, currently serving as Software Engineering Lead at Bank of China (Hong Kong) Ltd. With over a decade of experience, he’s driven by a passion for data innovation and digital transformation, striving to merge technology with real-world impact in FinTech.

As the upcoming Event Director of HKUMScFTDAAA, Sylvain is excited to bring vibrant and insightful events to life by leveraging his professional experience and wide network. His goal is to foster meaningful connections and spark collaboration across the alumni and student community.

Outside of work, Sylvain’s curious mind never rests — whether he’s inventing digital solutions to simplify life 💡, hopping between cafés and bars ☕🍸, catching a thrilling F1 race 🏎️, chasing goals on the football pitch ⚽, or enjoying a chill run by the waterfront 🏃.
